IAC Excursion to Chalong Temple, Nai Harn Beach, and Promthep Cape

On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, the International Affairs Centre (IAC) organized a half-day excursion to Chalong Temple, Promthep Cape, and Nai Harn Beach. The trip brought together 16 participants, including both international and Thai students, as well as IAC staff.

The first stop was Chalong Temple, a place of historical and spiritual significance to the local community. The temple once served as a haven for those injured and seeking refuge during the 1876 conflict between Chinese secret societies (Angyee). Participants paid their respects at the main hall and the grand pagoda, which houses a relic of the Buddha and features murals depicting scenes from his life.

Next, the group visited Promthep Cape, one of Phuket’s most renowned tourist attractions, especially known for its stunning sunsets. Although the tight schedule meant they couldn’t stay to witness the sunset, the group was fortunate that there was no rain and had the chance to experience the peaceful atmosphere of Promthep Cape before the usual influx of tourists.

The final destination was Nai Harn Beach, located nearby. A gentle stroll along the beach in the cloudy afternoon brought a sense of calm. Participants immersed themselves in the sound of nature—the strong breeze and crashing waves—feeling relaxed and reconnected with the natural beauty around them.
