PSU Phuket Hosted the Opening Ceremony of the University of Hyogo Representative Office (Thailand–Nishi Support Center: UHTN)

Prince of Songkla University, Phuket Campus, officially hosted the Opening Ceremony of the University of Hyogo Representative Office (Thailand–Nishi Support Center: UHTN) on Friday, 21 November 2025, held on the 4th floor of the President’s Office Building. The ceremony was attended by approximately 60 distinguished guests, including Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, President of Prince of Songkla University, and Prof. Makoto Kosaka, President of the University of Hyogo, executives from the Hat Yai and Phuket Campuses, as well as representatives from Thammasat University, the business community, and other institutional partners.

The University of Hyogo Representative Office was established through a collaboration between the University of Hyogo and Prince of Songkla University. The office will serve as a key hub for academic cooperation between Thailand and Japan, facilitating scholarship coordination and joint projects, while further strengthening educational, social, and economic ties between Southern Thailand and Hyogo Prefecture. Its primary objectives include promoting short-course programs and student exchanges for Thai undergraduate and master’s students. These initiatives provide opportunities for skill development, creative enrichment, and international academic experience.  The office also aims to enhance research collaboration among faculty and staff from both institutions, notably through the Visiting Professor Program.

The establishment of the University of Hyogo Representative Office in Thailand marks a significant milestone in the partnership between the two universities, paving the way for expanded educational and research collaboration in the years ahead.
