On April 4, 2025, Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Phuket Campus, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pun Thongchumnum, Vice President for PSU Phuket Campus; Dr. Tagsina Sripracha, Assistant President for International Affairs; and representatives from the International Affairs Centre (IAC), extended a warm welcome to Mr. Egor Ivanov, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Phuket, accompanied by Ms. Daria Plotnikova, Attaché; and Mr. Stanislav Golubev, Second Secretary from the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Thailand, as well as Mr. Thawee Piyapattana and the executive team from Pacific Fish Processing Company Limited (PFP). The meeting took place on the 3rd floor of the President’s Office Building (Bldg. 7).

The purpose of the visit was to explore opportunities for recruiting personnel with expertise or a background in the Russian language and culture—a skill set that is not only in high demand within the tourism sector but is also gaining increasing significance in international business, especially in the export industry. In response to this growing need, the dialogue covered relevant policies and strategies for developing professionals with these skills, consistent with PSU’s ongoing Russian language and culture curriculum initiatives.

Both parties expressed mutual interest and reached several points of agreement, with a shared expectation of establishing concrete collaborations in the near future.
