On Wednesday, 30 July 2025, the International Affairs Centre (IAC) organized a half-day excursion to Baan Laemsai Community in Phuket, where the BCG model -integrating Bioeconomy, Circular Economy, and Green Economy - is actively practiced to promote sustainability and recovery after the pandemic.
The trip gathered 40 participants, including both international and Thai students, together with IAC staff. After a short boat ride from the pier, the group arrived at the Baan Laemsai Farming Enterprise and enjoyed a delicious local lunch.
The village head warmly welcomed everyone and introduced the inspiring story of how the Baan Laemsai community enterprise was formed and developed over time. Students then took part in four hands-on learning stations, guided by local villagers: Black salmon farming, Traditional fishing gear, Environmental conservation and Value-added processing of black salmon – where participants got to try freshly made black salmon sashimi!
The day ended with a meaningful environmental action: students helped release juvenile sea creatures - accidentally caught in local fishing traps - back into the ocean, supporting marine life and the sustainable practices of local fishers.
